Preventable deaths are defined as deaths which can be avoided by effective and timely public health and primary care interventions. There is a large number of causes of avoidable or preventable deaths globally, differing regionally and nationally. Even though an improvement in public health policy has reduced these mortalities there are still improvements to made in education using these prevention strategies.
As part of our journal’s mission to address key aspects of preventable deaths, and to promote important discussions, Frontiers in Public Health is organizing a Research Topic focused on “Reducing Preventable Deaths: Health Education and Policy”. Led by an expert team of specialists, the Research Topic will accept manuscripts within this area of research, with the aim of giving the reader an overview of the latest discoveries and new findings, analysis of previously published data, new opinions and perspectives, and methods and protocols (when relevant). For that reason, all article types accepted by Frontiers are encouraged.
This Research Topic will explore themes related, but not limited, to:
• Measures for prevention of death regionally and nationally;
• Public Health education to improve understanding of preventable disease;
• Improving prevention methods as well as treatment;
• Public health planning in the prevention of deaths;
• Methods to improve measuring causes of death to inform future policy;
• Public health interventions in places with scarce resources;
• Differences in mortality rates in different countries;
• Allocation of resources and it’s effect on mortality rates.
