This Research Topic aims to highlight the latest advances in the use of high resolution microscopy - including (but not limited to) scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, cryo-electron microscopy, and super resolution microscopy – in the study of cell structures within the cellular context. Contributions are expected to include original research articles, methods papers, (mini-) review and perspective articles on (the applications of) novel and existing high resolution microscopy applications using different cell systems. This Topic aims to highlight technologies and cutting-edge new applications of high resolution microscopy which help advance science.
This Research Topic welcomes:
• Original Research articles: Describing the elucidation of cell structures in situ by using a novel or existing high resolution microscopy technique
• Methods: Describing either new or existing methods that are significantly improved or adapted for the purpose of studying cell structures in situ. These manuscripts may include primary (original) data.
• Perspectives on high resolution microscopy methods and protocols relevant for research on cellular structures.
• Technology and Code articles providing novel insights or approaches.
• Reviews and mini-reviews on topical methods, protocols, and applications of using high resolution microscopy in the studying cell structures within the cellular context.
