In recent years there has been an increase in the association of problematic internet and video gaming with various psychiatric conditions such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), insomnia, depression, mood and anxiety as well personality trait disorders amongst other mental health issues. Moreover, excessive gaming has been reported to lead to negative consequences regarding the impact on a person’s social life, work performance, and physical well-being.
The goal of this Research Topic is to provide a comprehensive overview of the physical and mental health issues associated with gaming disorders taking into account both global and gender perspectives as well as exploring relevant treatment possibilities.
We encourage contributors to submit original research articles, systematic reviews, perspectives, case reports, and mini-reviews that contribute to our understanding of the psychiatric consequences of problematic gaming behaviors, including but not limited to:
•Geographic and gender diversity
•Neurological impacts
•Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
•Sleeping
•Risk factors or links to other addictive disorders
•Application of quantifiable measurements to gaming disorders
