In January 2015, the “Precision Medicine Initiative” was put forward, and then the concept of precision medicine soon entered the public eyes and the international stage, becoming a hot topic in the medical field. Precision medicine is defined by the National Institutes of Health as “a new method of disease prevention and treatment that takes into account individual differences in genetics, environment, and lifestyle”. Precision medicine is tailored to patients' health care and clinical decisions based on the patient's internal biological information, clinical symptoms and signs. It adjusts the prevention and treatment methods of diseases according to the individual differences of each patient, and is a medical model that is customized according to the different patients.
This Research Topic aims to explore cutting-edge high-throughput multi-omics technology and artificial intelligence analysis methods, combined with clinical information, to develop large-scale and professional clinical biomarkers, which can ultimately serve the clinic and achieve disease molecular mechanism orientation. Individualized, accurate diagnosis and targeted therapy based on the patient's individual clinical and molecular characteristics will bring better quality and cost-effective health care to the society, and ultimately provide new clinical pathways to reduce government health care expenditures. It aims to explore the latest developments and new methods and technologies for precise diagnosis and treatment.
This Research Topic is dedicated to promoting outstanding research concerning both fields of basic and clinical research, focusing on the progresses, developments and new trends in the precision medical approaches, especially with advanced intelligent technology. This Research Topic welcomes original research and review articles. Potential article topics include but are not limited to the following:
• Precision diagnosis and treatment of major diseases based on multi-omics
• Research on pathogenesis based on immune microenvironment and metabolism
• Research on biotherapeutic targets for disease
• Establishment of clinical prediction model of disease based on artificial intelligence technology
• Nanotechnology and precision medicine
• Epigenetics and precision medicine
• Smart medical voice input and recognition technology
• Virtual diagnosis and treatment system
• Wearable medical equipment
• Biometric technology
