Social systems cover a wide range of subjects in social, economic, biological, mathematical, and physical science disciplines. Methodologies for studying social systems draw on a large variety of theories, tools and applications developed in those scientific disciplines. In particular, problems about human behaviors and dynamics in social systems appear in many different scenarios, and most of them are strongly related to research topics from the fields of network sciences, game theory, social physics, epidemic spreading, and artificial intelligence, leading to interdisciplinary challenges and just as many opportunities.
This issue of research topic is devoted to any aspect on theories, algorithms, and applications about human behavior and dynamics in social systems. It aims to exploit how humans learn, predict, decide and interact, how their behavior patterns emerge and change, and how social systems evolve taking into consideration of complex human behaviors. Potential works are expected to be outed either in a microscopic point of view, e.g., through analyzing individuals' incentives, objectives, intelligence and behaviors, or in a macroscopic way, e.g., by capturing the underlying patterns, collective performance, linking networks or evolution dynamics of social systems that are composed of individuals. Studies are encouraged to explore, but not limited to, the following research questions:
