Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major health problem worldwide. Patients with the end-stage renal disease will need renal replacement therapy (RRT) and have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). In addition, the progression of CKD is associated with a number of serious complications, which not only decrease the quality of life (QoL) of patients but also increase the mortality rate. Currently, efforts are being made to find ways to slow the progression of CKD, cope with CKD complications, prevent CVD, to find better RRT modalities. The aims of all these efforts are to improve patients’ QoL and decrease mortality.
This Research Topic aims to collect the advances in possible risk factors of the fast progression of CKD and integrated management strategies for complications of CKD. We hope that this Research Topic will shed light on the progress made in this field.
Within this Research Topic, we invite Reviews, Original Research, and Clinical studies on the outcomes, complications, and therapeutic strategies of CKD. Areas to be covered include, but are not limited to:
- Risk factors of rapid progression of CKD;
- Strategies for slowing the progression of CKD;
- Application of machine learning in kidney care;
- Management of CKD complications, including mineral and bone disorder, renal anemia, volume overload, malnutrition.
