Pathogens presence in the environment have been considered as challenges to reach sanitary quality of wastewaters, water for reuse, drinking water and bathing water which bring impairments for their usage and consumption. In this sense, contributions from experts on environmental engineering and management and, environmental microbiology and parasitology whose engagement in sorting out the challenges of the sanitary quality of waters, are crucial to advance in understanding the role of these pathogenic organisms in multiple scales to tackle the health implications.
The presence of a variety of microorganisms in different environmental matrices has great potential to affect public health. Thus, studies of the environmental quality of water and wastewater, such as efficient removal technologies, microbiological risk assessment, studies of new indicators, are necessary applied in a broad context of management and planning, like the water and wastewater security plans.
Original research papers are welcome in the following themes:
-Drinking water quality;
-Wastewater quality and regulations;
-Water for reuse: quality and challenges;
-Management tools for water resources;
-Risk assessment;
-Case reports;
-Water and wastewater safety plans;
-Wastewater-based epidemiology
