The modern way of life is, to a large extent, connected with a number of problems that occur in the field of public health, from early childhood to late old age. Given that previous research clearly indicates that physical inactivity and sedentary behavior can lead to impaired health, i.e. that an active lifestyle can ensure a healthy life and promote well-being for all, there is more and more public talk about an active style of life and healthy lifestyles, and there is a large amount of research in this area. However, the practical results are still not at the expected level as there is still a high incidence of physical inactivity and sedentary behavior for all ages in global data. This indicates the need for further focus on this very important social issue in the 21st century, especially because this issue is part of the United Nations 2030 agenda; in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), goal 3 emphasizes health promotion and strengthening the importance of well-being.
This Research Topic aims to develop knowledge and an understanding of physical activity and lifestyle sustainability; and thus to help identify possible solutions and strategies that provide a healthy transition from childhood, via adulthood, to old age, in the long term. The Topic offers an opportunity to publish high-quality research related to physical activity and lifestyle sustainability in all ages, from childhood to old age. We are mainly interested in questions of broader interventions at the individual (home settings), group (school, work, and gerontology settings), and societal level (community/based settings). We also welcome papers investigating the short- and long-term effects of environmental factors on physical changes in children, working and old age populations and their development. Correlational and survey studies examining the above-mentioned issues are welcome.
We welcome Original Research, Review articles, Case Studies, Clinical Trials, Systematic Reviews, and meta-analyses regarding, but not limited to, topics such as:
[1] Effects of physical activity on health and well-being in children and youth;
[2] Effects of physical activity on health and well-being in the working population;
[3] Effects of physical activity on health and well-being through in old age population;
[4] The role of physical activity in promoting sustainable health in children and youth;
[5] The role of physical activity in promoting sustainable health in the working population;
[6] The role of physical activity in promoting sustainable health in old age population;
[7] The use of physical activity as a strategy to promote health for all;
[8] Lifestyle sustainability, research methods used in the field of physical activity;
