Frontiers in Health Economics welcomes original papers for a Research Topic on current questions in the healthcare sector of the countries comprising the former Eastern Bloc. We seek authors who analyze national and international contemporary issues in the healthcare sector of the post-socialist states and of the regions affected by the socialist ideology. This Research Topic aims to cover healthcare provision and financing challenges in these countries.
We invite empirical and/or theoretical submissions, which challenge conventional thought and current practices within and across the healthcare sector issues in the post-socialist countries. Appropriate contemporary issues to address include, but are not limited to: medical services organization, budget impact assessments, cost of illness analysis, health policy considerations, healthcare financing, novel healthcare technologies, pharmaceutical innovations, compulsory and voluntary health insurance, medical ethics, efficiency of patients’ medication, informal practices in the healthcare sector and other “hot” topics relevant to the countries affected by the socialistic legacy.
Submitted papers should contain a clear explanation as to why the healthcare issue is of importance and potential impact that a change in contemporary practice will address. Rigorous academic work with practical managerial/policy recommendations is expected. All sorts of Frontiers article types are acceptable.
