Introduction and general guidelinesThis series aims to highlight the latest experimental techniques and methods used to investigate fundamental questions in Integrative and Regenerative Pharmacology. The Research Topic will bring under its fold the various extensions of pharmacology such as the relevance of biomolecules to stem cell biology, including but not limited to stem cells isolation, preservation, expansion, differentiation, their integration and function within the host tissue. Additionally, this Topic will depict the use of pharmacological agents together with bioengineering and nanotechnology principles to support 3D tissue constructs for example, cells/stem cells used to deliver pharmacological cargos for targeted delivery. Improved methods, novelties, recent advances and future perspectives in areas encompassing integrative and regenerative pharmacology are welcome. Review articles or opinions on methodologies or applications including the advantages and limitations of each are also welcome. This Topic will cover technologies and up-to-date methods which help advance science.
The contributions to this collection will undergo peer-review. Novelty may vary, but the utility of a method or protocol must be evident. We welcome contributions covering all aspects of Integrative and Regenerative Pharmacology. Submissions will be handled by the team of Topic Editors in the respective sections.
Frontiers in Pharmacology supports the FAIR (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability) principles for scientific data management and stewardship (Wilkinson et al., Sci. Data 3:160018, 2016).
This Research Topic welcomes:
• Methods: Describing either new or existing methods that are significantly improved or adapted for specific purposes. These manuscripts may include primary (original) data.
• Perspective or General Commentaries on methods and protocols relevant for Integrative and Regenerative Pharmacology research.
• Reviews and mini-reviews of topical methods and protocols highlighting the important future directions of the field.
For more information on the description and formats of the different article types please see here.
Integrative and Regenerative Pharmacology Guidelines This Research Topic will mainly focus on the interactions between (i) pharmacological agents; (ii) biological agents namely the cells, stem cells, cancer stem cells, cellular products and derivatives; and (iii) and tissue engineering principles namely use of biomaterials (micro/nano) to support tissue/organ regeneration with eventual translational benefits. The following should be considered:
(i) The methods should include clear description of protocols and experimental procedure
(ii) Ethical approval and protocol number for use of animal and human tissue are mandatory
(iii) Authors are to state the source of kits/materials
(iv) Information of data submitted to public repository must be stated
