In this changing world, higher education students face new challenges and develop new strategies to stay current with demands. A notable amount of these young adults seek help, and over time the provision of clinical interventions among students’ psychological services becomes an important professional issue throughout the world. Several studies highlighted an intensified demand for clinical interventions (counseling, psychotherapy, etc.) in recent years. Psychological services for students seem to be necessary to help them gain a better awareness of their mental health and a better knowledge of their personal resources needed to cope with critical events during the transition to adulthood. This possibility is even more relevant due to the mental health consequences of the 2019 novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which triggered fears and anxieties worldwide and led to an increase in the frequency and severity of mental health problems.
The present Research Topic aims at exploring psychological and psychotherapeutic interventions offered by tertiary educational institutions around the world. In particular, it aims at: investigating the overall offer of psychological services for higher education students; understanding what kind of interventions they offer; exploring the effectiveness of the interventions offered; investigating how interventions are provided; and exploring what are the main aspects of students’ mental health detected while attending these psychological services. This will allow an international data sharing with respect to students’ psychological centers, and to promote a broad international collaboration between professionals and departments (e.g., academic departments, administrative offices, and institutions) to attain a wider integration of tertiary education services based on the sharing of experiences, expertise, training, and policies.
We welcome submissions of manuscripts dealing with, but not limited to:
- Description of psychological services addressed to higher education students
- Efficacy and effectiveness of psychological interventions for higher education students
- Students’ mental health issues
- Clinical, organizational, and managerial issues
The article types that we accept to this Research Topic are, Original research, Systematic reviews, Methods, Review, Mini Review, Hypothesis and theory, Perspective, Conceptual analysis, Brief research report.
