World Health Organization (WHO) defines sexual and reproductive health (SRH) as a state of physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being in all functions and processes related to sexuality and the reproductive system. While SRH is critical to general health, well-being, and quality of life for all people, transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults have unique SRH needs and often lack access to culturally competent and age-appropriate SRH care. Four broad domains of SRH include: (1) romantic/sexual relationships and experiences, and sexual function/satisfaction; (2) contraception and pregnancy prevention; (3) fertility and family building; and (4) HIV/STI prevention intervention.
Given the dearth of research on SRH needs among transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults, the goal of this Research Topic is to highlight emerging and innovative research, clinical, educational, and policy approaches to improving SRH among transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults, with particular attention to recognizing social, economic, and cultural factors that affect access to SRH services. Data, knowledge, and experiences from transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults in low- and middle- income countries (LMIC) are particularly underrepresented in the literature, and this topic seeks to support this dissemination.
We are particularly interested in original research, but welcome contributions in the following formats:

• Romantic/sexual experiences in transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults
• Impact of gender-affirming medical/surgical interventions on SRH
• Impact of intersectional identities on SRH among transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults
• SRH interventions, particularly those co-developed/co-designed with transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults
• Innovative gender inclusive sexual health education programming
• Case reports or methods papers highlighting innovative fertility preservation approaches for transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults
• Parent, provider, and youth-serving professional-focused interventions to improve communication with transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults about SRH
• Studies relating to HIV, PrEP, contraception, abortion, and/or menstrual health/suppression and genital surgery specifically among transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults
• SRH among transgender and non-binary adolescents and young adults in low- and middle-income countries
