With the continuous improvement of the construction level of transportation infrastructure, the public's demand for road function is increasing and the request for green construction and safe service is becoming more urgent. Currently, a series of innovative technologies are constantly emerging, including new functional materials, functional pavement structures, and interdisciplinary fusion of material testing technologies, which provide strong supports for the design and construction of environment-friendly and functional pavements. Meanwhile, the rapidly advancing numerical simulation and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have seen increasing applications in enhancing material testing in road engineering, which provides a solid foundation for developing the new generation of testing technology for functional pavement. The development of functional pavement and advanced material testing technologies have greatly broadened the research field of pavement engineering.
This Research Topic aims to collect the latest research findings, including the construction of transportation infrastructure, civil engineering materials, and pavement structure and design, from worldwide scholars. This issue also covers the investigation of functional pavement materials, new design methods of intelligent pavement technology, and the application scenarios of advanced technology for testing paving materials.
