Note: This Research Topic will collect papers presented at the Third PhD Conference COMPASS in Poznan, Poland (22-24 September 2021). We also welcome external submissions from other young scientists that will fall into the scope of the associated journals in this collection.
The annual PhD Conference COMPASS 2021 is a unique opportunity for doctoral students to present new advances and research results in biology, biotechnology, biomedicine and bioinformatics, and share them with global experts. The three-day conference offers four plenary sessions with 5 keynote speakers, experts in the field; two poster sessions, and seven workshops to exchange knowledge, experience and ideas among young researchers. The PhD Conference COMPASS 2021 is organized as part of the project: Passport to the Future - Interdisciplinary Doctoral studies POWR.03.02.00-00-I006/17 at the Faculty of Biology of Adam Mickiewicz University.
The current global pandemic has shown the significance of scientific research in understanding the nature of the virus, and in helping the affected population recover from the viral disease. Science, knowledge, and new technologies are the key to fighting COVID19, thanks to years of dedicated hard work of researchers and the scientific community as a whole.
Young scientists are now at the forefront as they hold the future of science, research, and development. No matter if they are a plant scientist, human cancer researcher, or bioinformatician, the possibilities in contributing to a better world is limitless. In this Research Topic, we aim to highlight the important role and enormous efforts of young scientists – PhD students, early career researchers, postdocs – in discovering breakthroughs to address the important challenges of our times. This Research Topic is a platform for young scientists, to give them voice and space to express their ideas, thoughts, and recent achievements in molecular mechanisms of cancer diseases, cell biology, gene expression regulation, plant stress response, microbial and virus biology.
Submissions to this collection should present advances from the area of Life Science, including but not limited to genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, epigenetics, biomarkers, system biology, computational biology, and bioinformatics. All participants are welcome to submit the following article types: research papers, reviews (including mini-reviews), opinions, and methods.
