Advances in anesthetic and surgical techniques have made major operative procedures safer for patients with unstable medical and surgical conditions. However, postoperative morbidity and mortality related to cardiopulmonary and renal complications are of major concern in patients undergoing surgery. Therefore, appropriate and careful preoperative risk stratification, intraoperative management, and postoperative outcome evaluation are crucial to prevent or reduce poor perioperative anesthetic and surgical outcomes.
The aim of this Research Topic is to provide a comprehensive overview regarding new evaluation and management for postoperative cardiopulmonary and renal morbidity and mortality.
We welcome submissions of all types of manuscripts (original articles, systematic reviews, narrative reviews, or mini-reviews) with high quality and originality to fill gaps in our current knowledge of postoperative morbidity and mortality.
Areas to be covered in this Research Topic may include, but are not limited to:
• Postoperative renal complications
• Postoperative cardiovascular complications
• Postoperative pulmonary complications
