The methodology of psychological research includes measurement, design, and analysis. Recent findings in various fields of Psychology point to problems related to these aspects. Among them: the non-replication of results; the diffuse theoretical delimitation of psychological constructs reflected even in the few pieces of evidence for equivalence of construct in international research articles as well as a preference for quantitative approaches and "statistical significance" results. Therefore, it shows the need to create and promote consultation sources to improve the good practice of global psychological research. Especially because the present world of rapid changes and communication facilitated by the use of technologies is leading to the acquisition and implementation of open science, the creation of scientific spaces, and the implementation of studies with a focus on diversity and inclusiveness. Consequently, to a projection of international psychological research that includes collaboration of scientific production between countries, even more between developed and developing countries.
The aim of this collection is to compile a series of articles that present relevant theoretical criteria related to the measurement and joint study of psychological phenomena in different countries as well as methodological issues that are important to know in order to include them in the design and implementation of international research in psychology; with a special focus between developed and developing countries. Furthermore, we also welcome innovative, applied, or empirical international psychological research that can be examples of the adequate use of theoretical and methodological practices in International Psychology.
Scope: Methodological and theoretical aspects that are necessary to take into account when designing and implementing international psychological research (including between developed and developing countries).
Themes: application of theory and methodology in international psychological research; research designs and data collection techniques for international psychological research; data analysis techniques of psychological constructs and their dynamics across countries; conception and measurement of psychological phenomena in international research.
Types of manuscripts:
• Methodological article (quantitative, qualitative and mixed approaches).
• Applied or empirical research article (using international samples).
• Review article.
• Perspective article.
• Tutorial articles (including analysis script as supplementary material).
We would like to extend special thanks to the coordinator for this Research Topic Milagros Ocalin Sánchez Hernández, who is currently affiliated with the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua, León, Nicaragua. Her research interests include psychometrics and psychopathology.
