About this Research Topic
This Research Topic will contain papers submitted to the 8th International Conference on the Assessment of Animal Welfare at Farm and Group Level (WAFL). This was to be held in University College Cork in 2020 but was postponed due to COVID-19 and instead will run as a virtual conference (from Ireland) from August 16th to 19th 2021.
Communications (original research, reviews, methods, perspectives or brief research reports) developed from contributions to the conference are very welcome, particularly those which fall into the following themes:
• The role of animal welfare in addressing global grand challenge
• Transdisciplinary approaches to measuring animal welfare
• Back to basics: practical solutions to improve animal welfare
• Animal health and welfare: Interchangeable or interdependent?
• Humans in the animal welfare loop
• Animal welfare in the corporate world
• Animal welfare during transport and in extensive systems
• Measuring and mitigating pain
• Precision livestock farming and animal welfare
