Spondyloarthritis (SpA) represents a heterogeneous group of rheumatic inflammatory entities such as the axial skeleton, enthesis, and peripheral joints and may occur together with extra-articular manifestations, including psoriasis, inflammatory bowel disease and uveitis. During the clinical course of the disease, patients with SpA may also suffer from other comorbidities that appear as a consequence of persistent inflammatory activity and/or treatment. These clinical manifestations may not only influence the treatment decision but also impact on the treatment outcomes.
In recent years, important advances in the understanding of the clinical picture of SpA have been made. However, the natural evolution of the disease, the appearance of extra-articular manifestations, the development of comorbidities and the impact of such manifestations on treatment management and outcomes should be studied in depth.
The aim of this Research Topic is to publish Original Research and Review articles that may provide new insight into:
• Incidence and risk factors of peripheral and extra-musculoskeletal manifestations in patients with axial and peripheral Spondyloarthritis.
• Impact of peripheral and extra-musculoskeletal manifestations on treatment outcomes
• Development of comorbidities and its impact on treatment outcomes
• Real-world data of the treatment efficacy on peripheral and extra-musculoskeletal manifestations
