Dry eye disease (DED) is a common disorder affecting hundreds of millions of people around the world. The disease is characterized by eye discomfort, visual impairment, tear film instability, and ocular surface damage depending on its severity. Given that DED reduces the quality of life and health of patients, numerous basic and clinical studies in the field of ophthalmology have been performed to elucidate its pathophysiology, new diagnostic techniques, animal models, and new treatment methods, such as secretagogues, glucocorticoid, and new anti-inflammatory drugs.
The purpose of this Research Topic is to highlight novel research findings on dry eye diseases, including disease models, pathophysiological mechanisms, diagnostic techniques, and the latest treatment methods. In so doing, we aim to reveal gray areas for future research on dry eye diseases. We welcome submissions of Original Research and Review articles. Topics of interest include but not limited to:
• Incidence and pathogenic factors of dry eye
• Pathogenesis of dry eye
• New diagnostic techniques for dry eye
• New progress in the treatment of dry eye
• Construction of research model of dry eye
