The International Diabetes Federation reports that sub-Saharan Africa is experiencing the most rapid increase in the world of diabetes. In addition, Africa has the highest rate of death of people with diabetes under the age of 60 years. Therefore people who represent the cultural and economic engine of African countries are losing the opportunity to contribute. Furthermore, Africa has the highest prevalence of people living with diabetes who are undiagnosed.
