About this Research Topic
This Research Topic focuses on the most important areas for advancing microbiome analysis and engineering, including technologies that enable microbiome measurements in situ, genetic manipulation of microbes within a community, computational methods for predicting microbiome growth and function, etc. These technical challenges are broadly applicable and necessary to advance our understanding and manipulation of the microbiome.
This Research Topic particularly welcomes but is not limited to contribution focusing on:
-Imaging techniques, including microscopy, mass spectrometry imaging, etc.
-Applications of microfluidics in microbiome
-Genetic engineering tools for microbes
-Computational modelling of microbiome, mechanistic-based or machine learning
-Experimental model systems
-Engineering microbe-microbe interactions
