Advancements in high-throughput technologies provides powerful platforms to assay coding and non-coding RNAs, proteins and metabolites, as well as gut microbiota compositions. Nutriomics, also known as nutrigenomics, is an emerging scientific discipline in which all available technologies for gathering information about the genome and other biological molecules comprising transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics as well as metagenomics are effectively applied to reveal the interactions between nutrition and the mammalian genome. Integration of nutrition and genomics is leading to identification and deeper understanding of the variations or similarities in expression of various candidate genes in response to nutrition.
The application of Nutriomics for ensuring the quality of nutrition and its impact on overall improvement of livestock is still in its infancy and thus offers an exciting opportunity in the field of animal nutrition.
This Research Topic invites publications that aim to evaluate the effects of different diets (and/or nutrients) in livestock feeding, the use of Nutriomics to augment productivity, improve reproductive parameters, as well as prevention or modulation of livestock diseases.
Examples of papers to be published in this Research Topic include:
• Application of transcriptomics in animal feeding
• Proteomics and livestock nutrition
• Metagenomics in animal nutrition
• Expression of genes in association with animal nutrition
• Advanced NGS tools and applications in animal nutrition
The following article types will be considered: Original Research, Review, Brief Research Report, Methods, Data Report.
