Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a powerful research tool. It provides insights into the brain’s activity at ms and mm resolutions. Some practitioners view MEG as a hype and have not yet reached a level of understanding and comfort with this technology that would enable them to request MEG even for the clearest of indications.
In this collection, we aim to provide a comprehensive update on most recent advances in MEG utilization in clinical pre-surgical evaluation, functional mapping, cognitive neuroscience, source localization techniques (especially towards deep sources), and most recent technological advances.
We seek to illustrate that MEG is in fact underutilized at large, recognizing known limitations and suggest a roadmap to fill a gap of knowledge to supplement, and hopefully, replace invasive means of brain monitoring, which is still widely indicated.
This Research Topic will cover 5 main categories, including but not limited to:
Clinical MEG - Functional Mapping
Clinical MEG - Seizure Localization
MEG in Neurocognition
MEG - Source Localization
MEG - Technical
MEG - Other alternative topics will be considered and honored according to the abstract review.
