About this Research Topic
Kidney transplantation is now world-wide performed and resulted in a significant prolongation of life expectancy of patients with end stage renal disease. Even though large progresses have been made not only in the transplantation process per se, but also in the immunosuppressive schemes after kidney transplantation, research is ongoing to further improve the long-term outcome after kidney transplantation.
This Research Topic aims to publish manuscripts on how to improve long-term outcomes after kidney transplantation. These include ex-vivo studies, immunosuppressive strategies, and treating acute and chronic cellular and humoral rejection.
Welcome Topics include, but are not limited to the following:
• Ex-vivo strategies to improve outcome after kidney transplantation
• Personalization of immunosuppressive regiments
• New advances in the diagnosis of graft function, rejection or immunosuppressive treatment
• New strategies in the treatment of rejections (acute/chronic; cellular/humoral)
Keywords: transplantation, rejection, infection, drug development, cancer after transplantation, post-transplant diabetes mellitus
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
