Bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT) represents a sophisticated multi-cellular niche that supports organismal metabolism, intricate endocrine and hematological functions, as well as skeletal health. Yet, we are only beginning to appreciate the unique molecular, cellular, and physiological properties of this distinct adipose depot. This second BMAS-sponsored Issue integrates the effort of BMAS in collaboration with Frontiers in Endocrinology to provide a gold standard compendium of state of the art research and methodologies for basic, translational and clinical research of BMAT. Submissions must follow IBMAS standards for
nomenclature and
data reporting established in our first issue.
