This Research Topic on "Disabled People Exercise Physiology: Performance and Health Implications" is organized for the Frontiers in Physiology community. The main objective of this Research Topic is to analyze sports performance and health, from the physiology point of view, of both athletes and people with disabilities. Papers related to performance improvement, performance analysis and training methods in disabled athletes, from a point of view of physiology, are welcomed. In particular, papers that focus on Paralympic athletes, both individual and collective, are well received. In addition, taking into account that the disabled people physical activity and sport practice can pose important health/injury problems and benefits, papers that describe the physiological health of disabled people (children, youth and adults with disabilities, both sedentary and physical activity practitioners) and athletes of different modalities are also welcomed as well as articles that demonstrate the effects of different intervention methods to improve the health of disabled people. This Research Topic is open to any contributions in the subject area of disabled people and athlete’s performance and health.
This Research Topic aims to collect scientific papers that are related to disabled people and athlete performance and health in different physical activity and sports modalities, including both team and individual sports. The following sub-topics are of particular interest:
• Performance analysis in Paralympic modalities
• Evidence-based sports classification
• Training methods in athletes with disabilities.
• Practice of physical activity in people with disabilities.
• Physiological characteristics of people and athletes with disabilities
• Physiological health of people with disabilities
• Physical exercise for the health of people with disabilities
