Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are slow-growing tumours with distinct histological and remarkable biological and clinical characteristics. Their incidence has seen an increase the last decades and along with establishment of Centres of Excellence worldwide, there has been focus on their diagnostic approach, guidelines on their invasive or non-invasive management and follow-up protocols.
NETs can present with functional and non-functional symptoms. It is of paramount importance that a multidisciplinary approach is applied in patients with NETS including gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, oncologists and anaesthetists.
The aim and scope of this Research Topic is to address the important issues around NETs management, review treatment guidelines and highlight latest developments. We welcome submissions of a research or clinical nature. Review articles are also encouraged.
