This Research Topic is a continuation of the discussion initiated in
Zeolite Chemistry and Applications.
Zeolites are crystalline aluminosilicates belonging to the group of tectosilicate molecular sieves. They are porous solids with ordered, interconnected microporous channels with diameters ranging from 0.2 to 2 nm, corresponding to the size of many organic molecules. Thanks to their peculiar three-dimensional framework, zeolites are used worldwide as shape-selective catalysts, ion-exchangers and adsorbents.
Those amazing materials remain the world largest catalysts produced for industrial applications. In this Research Topic, we aim to collect many contributions covering all aspects of zeolite chemistry, ranging from their synthesis, shaping for real world applications, as well as their practical use in different fields: adsorption, ion-exchange and catalysis.
We welcome Original Research, Review, Mini Review and Perspective articles on themes including, but not limited to:
• New strategies to synthesize zeolites or related porous materials (mesoporous silicas, mesoporous aluminas, MOFs, COFs, POMs, etc)
• Modification of zeolite porosity : including hard- and soft-templating methods, desilication, dealumination
• Doping with metals for catalytic, adsorption or remediation purposes
• Catalysis: for both petrochemistry and fine chemical synthesis
• Applications of zeolites for a sustainable energy future: support, membrane, composite, sorbent, etc
• Novel in-depth Characterization tools to decipher the structure and textural properties
