This Research Topic is part of the Molecular Physiology in Molluscs series:
Molecular Physiology in MolluscsMolluscs are second only to arthropods in numbers of living animal species and the largest marine phylum, comprising about 23% of all the named marine organisms. Many molluscs have economic importance. Compared to aquatic vertebrates, such as fish, the study on molluscan physiology has lagged behind, possibly because of the short domestication time, difficulty to observe, lack of specific instruments and reagents, and so on. With the development of molecular biology and omics, molluscan physiology gains the late-mover advantage to obtain fast improvement.
The objective of this Research Topic is to collect manuscripts dealing with the molecular mechanism of molluscan physiology, including basic physiological process, behavior style, morphological character, pathophysiological process, stress physiological response, etc. This Research Topic also aims to include the related review articles and the articles regarding applying the experimental techniques usually used in model organism into molluscs.
