Research in the field of perinatal endocrinology is growing exponentially both in basic science as well as in translational clinical medicine. Emerging technologies in molecular biology, use of mega-data, and artificial intelligence are some of the driving factors. Significant progress has been made in recent years in our understanding of key regulatory mechanisms involved in the pathophysiology of pregnancy-related endocrine disorders, associated risk factors, and their short- and long-term consequences. This Research Topic aims to disseminate current best evidence in the field of perinatal endocrinology with a focus on pregnancy-associated endocrine disorders. It will also cover the issues related to clinical practice of screening, diagnosis, and management of common endocrine disorders during the preconception period, pregnancy and postpartum.
