Futsal is one of the sports with the largest increase in number of participants over the world both on the recreational and competitive levels. However, such development was not followed by research that supports the improvement of learning and training for performance.
Therefore, the aim of this Research Topic is to invite manuscripts from all forms of sports science where Futsal has been investigated (e.g. coaching, pedagogy, talent development, performance analysis, physiology, motion analysis, psychology, management, and/or medicine). Further, the goal of this Research Topic is to develop knowledge about Futsal as a sport or its practice. We encourage manuscript contributions to address practical implications and the translation of theoretical research into practice.
Topics may include, but are not limited to:
• The understanding of game demands, with a special focus on the identification of most demanding passages of play;
• Understanding of the influence of contextual and situational variables in players and teams' performance;
• Capturing game dynamics in different moments of play;
• Defining multidimensional models of Futsal players' profiles;
• Monitoring training and competition;
• Understanding of short-term adaptations to training process;
• Measuring individual and team adaptations to training process;
• Improving strength and conditioning in Futsal;
• Developing learning environments in Futsal;
• Manipulation of practice tasks for learning and performance;
• Transfer of practice between training and competition;
• Identification of most prevalent injuries in Futsal;
• Preventive strategies of injuries in Futsal.
Original Research, Data Reports, Hypothesis and Theories, and Review Articles are welcome.
