It is our honor to have the opportunity to present the most cutting-edge articles and leading innovative authors and concepts surrounding robotic and minimally invasive thoracic surgery. Our goal is to present some of the latest concepts and to inspire our readers to deliver their patients the world’s best care and to know that almost every thoracic operation can be performed minimally invasively.
In this Research Topic, we ask some of the world experts to present their latest thoughts on new and novel ways to perform robotic surgery with greater efficiency and with greater patient and surgeon value. In addition, we will present some of the newest robotic as well as wristed video-assisted thoracic platforms. We will also present video vignettes with easy to use links that takes the reader to short video clips that illustrate how to perform complex robotic surgery after immunotherapy and/or radiotherapy. We will also describe the best pathways to competence using new mentoring techniques. We will describe some of the latest and greatest ways to navigate to small pulmonary nodules. Finally, we will describe our 5-7 year experience using telemedicine. We will show how we have leveraged it to improve patient experience. Now with the recent coronavirus crisis, third party payers as well as other institutions are beginning their implemental of this strategy that will never go away once consumers experience it.
