Recent advances in the development of novel nanomaterials have gained immense attention due to several biomedical applications including cancer theranostics. The distinctive physicochemical properties of these materials, including small size and large surface-area-to-volume ratio, provide them with novel abilities for cancer theranostics combining the diagnostics, bio-sensing, imaging, and therapy. Recent achievements in cancer immunotherapy have gained important attention in harnessing the body's immune system to fight against cancer. In this context nanomedicine with intrinsic immunomodulatory properties presents an exciting opportunity as they can selectively regulate immune cell functions.
The goal of the special issue will be to cover a broad range of research and review articles about the immunomodulation properties of nanomedicine in cancer theranostics. The effects of immunomodulatory nanomedicine on the tumor microenvironment (TME) also will be covered. Various factors like pH, hypoxia, tumor angiogenesis, tumor extracellular matrix will be covered considering these have a huge role in the immunomodulation of nanomedicine. The ultimate goal is to develop novel immunomodulatory nanomedicine and developing exciting strategies to enhance cancer theranostics applications. Areas to be covered in this Research Topic may include, but are not limited to:
• Immunomodulatory nanomedicine
• Fabrication of novel nanomedicine for cancer immune-therapy
• Cancer theranostics applications of immunomodulatory nanomaterials
• Nanomedicines as Delivery Platforms for Immunomodulating Agents.
• Nanomedicine as Immune-Modulating Agents
• Effects of immunomodulatory nanomedicine on the tumor microenvironment (TME)
