Cognitive neurodynamic is an interdisciplinary field of systems neuroscience, characterized by multiple levels of integration, multiple timescales of activity, and multiple coding and decoding principles of neural information. Contributions from experimental and theoretical neuroscience, from mathematics to computational modeling, from behavioral to philosophical perspectives are all welcome to face a seemingly unattainable complexity that transforms information into a dynamic puzzle expressed by the mental process of acquiring knowledge and understanding its meaning. This neuroheuristic process is necessarily dynamic and encompasses recurrent, yet flexible, intellectual functions such as executive functions and learning based on the perception-action cycle - the sensorimotor integration.
The goal of the present Research Topic is to broaden our knowledge regarding how a dynamical system approach can lead to a better understanding of the build-up of these intellectual functions from a conceptual, theoretical and experimental basis.
The contributions to this Research Topic should bring original results and discussion on the challenges and the specific value of their empirical and methodological contributions. The article collection may also include inter- and/or transdisciplinary review papers on cognitive neurodynamics of problem-solving and decision making.
Keywords:
sensorimotor dynamics, decision making, spiking networks, action planning, brain imaging
Important Note:
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
