About this Research Topic
This Research Topic will be based on the existing understanding of emotional symptoms to explore the underlying neuropathological mechanisms, and to address important conceptual and methodological questions. We welcome manuscript submission in the following areas but not limited to:
1. Antidepressants and psychological treatments are often used to treat emotional disturbance in neuropsychiatric disorders. However, the underlying mechanisms of antidepressants and psychological treatment remain unclear. Manuscripts about imaging studies on antidepressant treatment and psychological treatment for neuropsychiatric disorders are extremely welcome to this topic.
2. New therapeutics for emotional disturbance have been developed recently. This includes Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) of first episode patients alone, or in combination with antidepressant drugs to patients with repeated episodes or drug resistance. However, the mechanism of these techniques is unknown. Manuscripts focusing on the use of these techniques for the treatment of emotional disturbance are welcome.
3 Manuscript on imaging studies aiming to explore the neuropathological mechanisms underlying emotional symptoms in neuropsychiatric disorders are also welcome.
4. Finally, we also welcome all related reviews, commentaries on existing publications and perspectives.
Keywords: Structural MRI, functional MRI, depression, anxiety, phobia
