This Research Topic is a collection of perspectives on the impact that Carbon Dioxide Capture and Utilization (CCU) may have on our lives, two-to-three decades from now. Authors are highly reputed scholars, each having a deep knowledge of the field they are describing and a long lasting (>10-15 y) track-record of research in the field. The collection paints a picture of the potential of CCU and its impact on the lives of future generations. It is not a retrospective view (review), it is forward looking, it is a vision.
Papers each focus on a specific application of CO2, illustrating the point we can reach by 2040-2050 and how we can get there. Despite being visionary, papers are based on solid scientific bases and are not free-fly exercises.
