Spending long hours in front of computers have made us sedentary resulting in less physical activity and more weight gain. On the other hand, there are increasingly more applications and online resources to promote physical activity, improve diet and manage weight. These tools are advantaged by wider and more flexible accessibility and most are cost-effective and can be tailored according to individuals’ needs and expectations.
In this Research Topic in Frontiers of Endocrinology, Obesity section, we invite Original Articles, Reviews, Commentaries and Perspectives focusing on the use and efficacy of technology-based interventions for weight management.
These include but not limited to applications for self-monitoring, structured programs, social support programs and counselor feedback targeting behavioral changes and/or lifestyle modification. The interventions may target various populations such as children and adolescents, pregnant women, individuals with diabetes and the elderly.
