This Research Topic features contributions from participants from the 2019 Israel Society of Physiology and Pharmacology (ISPP) meeting and the 2019 ISPP Ion Channel and Transporters satellite (ICM) meeting. The goal of this volume is to provide an overview of the current state of the Israeli Ion channel and Transporters research. We want to demonstrate the breadth and variety of work currently being undertaken and offer a platform to highlight the proceedings, research and ideas brought up during this year's meetings.
The annual ISPP and ICM meetings took place on February 13th-14th, 2019 in Jerusalem, Israel. During the meetings, scientists from various research disciplines in the field of neuroscience, cardiology, biophysics, metabolism, and neurology met and shared their research related to different aspects of ion channels and transporters. The scientific program has been designed to facilitate and stimulate the integration between scientists within and across several research fields. Sessions and keynote lecturers featured internationally renowned senior researchers alongside postdocs and Ph.D. students.
This collection of articles (i.e., Original Research articles, Reviews, and Commentaries) presents contributions on all the topics related to ion channels and transporters, including structure-function, channelopathies, ion channels pharmacology, excitability, pumps, and ion channel regulation.
