The Italian National Research Council, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) has signed an Open Access publishing consortium deal with Gold OA publisher Frontiers.

We are delighted to announce that Heriot-Watt University has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers. This landmark deal provides a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK, who publish 7% of the world’s research. Heriot-Watt University supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this deal, eligible authors may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, Heriot-Watt University will benefit from a discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles covered by this agreement. This agreement will further encourage Heriot-Watt University authors to publish open access, increasing uptake of open access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, to the benefit of the scholarly community and the public at large, while reducing costs. We are delighted to announce that the Z. Smith Reynolds Library at Wake Forest University has formed an open access publishing agreement with Frontiers. Wake Forest University supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the Z. Smith Reynolds library at Wake Forest University has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, Wake Forest University-affiliated corresponding authors on the Reynolds campus will benefit from a 15% discount on article-processing charges (APCs) when publishing in any of Frontiers’ open access journals, irrespective of what fund covers the APC.This agreement will further encourage Wake Forest University authors to publish open access, increasing uptake of open access for fellow researchers and the public at large to the results of mostly publicly funded research, while reducing costs. As part of this support, Johannes Kepler University Linz has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of the Austria Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, eligible authors from Johannes Kepler University Linz may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to the author. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated to Johannes Kepler University Linz. If the author(s) are members of a FWF-funded project, the FWF may cover the APCs (more information here).
