The Francis Crick Institute has joined the Frontiers – JISC national open access deal.
We are delighted to announce that the Francis Crick Institute has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers. This landmark deal provides a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK, who publish 7% of the world’s research. The Francis Crick Institute supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this deal, eligible authors may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, the Francis Crick Institute will benefit from a discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles covered by this agreement. University College London has joined the JISC UK National Open Access Agreement with Frontiers
We are delighted to announce that University College London has joined the national open access deal agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers. This landmark deal provides a simplified and streamlined route to open access publishing for researchers in the UK, who publish 7% of the world’s research. The JISC UK National Open Access Agreement with Frontiers allows discounts on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles. As part of this arrangement, eligible authors may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Research papers that acknowledge University College London – held Wellcome Trust, UKRI, Cancer Research UK or British Heart Foundation funding are eligible to use this arrangement. Frontiers and the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research form open access publishing agreement
The Institute of Marine Research supports their authors in publishing open access. As part of this support, the Institute of Marine Research will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors. As part of the UNIT Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research will benefit from a 10% membership discount. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated with the Institute of Marine Research. Manchester Metropolitan University joins the Jisc – Frontiers national open access framework agreement
We are delighted to announce that Manchester Metropolitan University has formed an open access publishing agreement under the national agreement in the UK agreed between Jisc Collections and Frontiers. Manchester Metropolitan University supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the University has agreed to become another participating organization of the Jisc-Frontiers national agreement. Under this scheme, Manchester Metropolitan University Library cover a discount on article processing charges (APCs) for eligible articles by its researchers published in any Frontiers journal and with a simplified and streamlined process. Manchester Metropolitan University and its authors will benefit from a discount on APCs for articles covered by this agreement as well as improved insight into open access uptake and expenditures through detailed reports provided by Frontiers. Frontiers and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs form open access publishing agreement
The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI), supports their authors in publishing open access. As part of this support, NUPI will cover Article Processing Charges (APCs) for eligible articles centrally for their eligible authors. As part of the UNIT Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, NUPI will benefit from a 10% membership discount. Authors are asked that during article submission the corresponding author’s NUPI institutional email address is used. Frontiers and the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences form open access publishing agreement.
We are delighted to announce that the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences (Krems, Austria) has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of the Austria Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, eligible authors from the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to the author. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated to the Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences. If the author(s) are members of a FWF-funded project, the FWF may cover the APCs (more information here). KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska högskolan) supports their authors in publishing open access. As part of this support, eligible authors from KTH will benefit from a 10% discount under the terms of the Sweden Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement. KAUST and Frontiers form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Frontiers have formed an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing. 2022 Update: KAUST has extended their collaboration with Frontiers, allowing affiliated authors to continue to benefit from a 10% membership discount. Authors remain responsible for paying the remaining balance of the APC after discount.

University of Arizona extends open access publishing agreement with Frontiers
We are delighted to announce that the University of Arizona (UA) Libraries and Frontiers have extended their institutional membership agreement for open access publishing. As part of UA’s support in making research more widely available, the UA Libraries held an institutional membership trial agreement with Frontiers, enabling UA-affiliated corresponding authors to benefit from a 7.5% membership discount on article processing charges (APCs) until the end of 2019. This collaboration has now been further formalized and extended, and starting in 2020 UA-affiliated corresponding authors, when publishing in any of Frontiers’ (currently) over 110 journals (which are all fully open access), will enjoy a 10% membership discount on APCs. This new agreement is effective March 1st 2020. All other arrangements (data reports to the Libraries, verification process) stay the same, and for quick and automated application of the discount, authors are asked to submit their manuscripts using their University of Arizona institutional email address. Zurich University of Applied Sciences forms publishing agreement with Frontiers
ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences has formed an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. This institutional agreement means that eligible ZHAW researchers may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. ZHAW will cover costs for eligible publications as long as the ZHAW open access publication fund is not exhausted. CERN will centrally cover APCs for Frontiers’ journals
We are delighted to announce that the European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN (Organisation européenne pour la recherche nucléaire), will centrally cover article processing charges (APCs) for eligible articles by its researchers published in any Frontiers journal. Furthermore, CERN will benefit from a 10% membership discount on APCs for articles covered by this arrangement. Information for authors: Before submission, please send a message to open-access-questions@cern.ch to start the administrative procedure for the payment. All articles with at least one CERN-affiliated author are eligible for central CERN funding to cover the APC under this agreement.
