Frontiers and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna form open access publishing agreement
Under the terms of the “Austrian Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement”, the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (Vetmeduni) has formed an institutional agreement with Frontiers. The Vetmeduni supports its researchers in making their research free and openly available. As part of this support, the agreement with Frontiers will enable Vetmeduni authors to publish open access at reduced costs. Eligible Vetmeduni authors who meet the institutional funding criteria benefit from a 10% membership discount in any Frontiers journal. Furthermore the invoicing process will be centrally administered by the Vetmeduni Open Access Team. If you are an eligible Vetmeduni author, please select “University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna” in the payment information section (“Frontiers institutional members”) when submitting your article. Frontiers will verify your eligibility with the Vetmeduni Open Access Team. If confirmed, Frontiers will apply the discount on the article processing charges (APCs). Upon receipt, the Vetmeduni Open Access Team will forward the invoice to the corresponding author to arrange the payment by the respective department or clinic. Frontiers and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that Frontiers and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria have formed an open access publishing agreement. Under the terms of the Austria Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH Oberösterreich / FH OÖ) will cover article processing charges for eligible authors in any of the Frontiers journals. Eligible authors are corresponding authors of a given article who meet the funding criteria of the FH OÖ. Those submitting an FWF-funded article can select the university as the institutional payer. Frontiers and Stockholm University form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that Stockholm University has established an institutional agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. Stockholm University supports open access publishing by covering article-processing charges (APCs) for affiliated corresponding authors, publishing in any Frontiers journal. As part of this support, eligible authors from Stockholm University are able to publish open access articles in any Frontiers journal at no charge to the author. To submit your article under this institutional agreement, please select ‘Stockholm University’ as institutional payer in the invoice section when submitting your article. Frontiers will then verify your eligibility with the Stockholm University Library, and if confirmed, the APC will be paid by the Library upon acceptance. For information on whether your article is eligible, or if you require any further details, please visit the Stockholm University Library’s webpage on open access or email the open access team at openaccess@su.se.

Frontiers and the Graz University of Technology form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that Frontiers and the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) have formed an open access publishing agreement. Under the terms of the Austria Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement, the Graz University of Technology (Technische Universität Graz) can cover article processing charges for eligible authors in any of the Frontiers journals. Eligible authors are corresponding authors of a given article who meet the funding criteria of the TU Graz. The Helmholtz Association and Frontiers expand open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that Frontiers and the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Deutscher Forschungszentren) have established an agreement entailing the inclusion of three new members of the Helmholtz Association in an agreement on open access publishing. Building on an agreement established in 2015 comprising a consortium of then nine member institutions of the Helmholtz Association, Frontiers and the Helmholtz Association have now agreed on the expansion of this consortium to include three further member institutions. The new members are: The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V., DLR), The Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel (GEOMAR), and The Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (Alfred-Wegener-Institut, Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung, AWI). Frontiers and the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, former Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences (Leibniz-Institut für Meereswissenschaften, IFM-GEOMAR), has formed an open access publishing agreement with Frontiers. GEOMAR has become a participating member in an agreement for open access publishing between the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Deutscher Forschungszentren) and Frontiers, and as part of this agreement a 15% discount will be applied to APCs for articles by GEOMAR-affiliated corresponding authors. We are delighted to announce that the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has formed an open access publishing agreement with Frontiers. The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V., DLR) covers Article Processing Charges (APCs) for affiliated corresponding authors who wish to publish in any Frontiers journal. The DLR has become a participating member in an agreement for open access publishing between the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Deutscher Forschungszentren) and Frontiers, and as part of this agreement a 15% discount will be applied to APCs for articles by DLR-affiliated corresponding authors. We are delighted to announce that the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (Alfred-Wegener-Institut Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung, AWI) has formed an open access publishing agreement with Frontiers. The AWI covers Article Processing Charges (APCs) for affiliated corresponding authors who wish to publish in any Frontiers journal. Frontiers and Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) form open access publishing agreement
UPDATE: From 14/10/2022, CSIC no longer supports paying the cost of the APC for affiliated researchers due to the end of the centralized quota for 2022. Authors should ensure they have their own source of funding to pay the article processing charge before submitting an article. CSIC will re-evaluate the situation at the beginning of 2023. The Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, CSIC) has established an open access publishing agreement with Frontiers. CSIC supports corresponding authors affiliated with its centres and institutes in publishing open access research articles. As part of this support CSIC has formed an agreement with Frontiers for an institutional pre-payment account, which covers 25% of article processing charges (APCs) for accepted articles by eligible authors in any Frontiers journal, starting from 1 January 2018. Under the terms of this agreement eligible authors will also benefit from a 5% discount on APCs. The 5% discount is applied to the net APC, i.e. the APC, which would otherwise be payable after deduction of any other discounts that may apply. Frontiers forms open access publishing agreement with the Austrian Science Fund (FWF)
Under the terms of the Open Access Publishing Framework Agreement for Austrian Research Performing and Research Funding institutions, agreed between Frontiers, the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the University of Vienna, the Austrian Science Fund covers the APCs for all authors of a paper who are members of a FWF-funded project, in any Frontiers journal.
