Frontiers and Sheffield Hallam University form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that Sheffield Hallam University has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. Sheffield Hallam University Library supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, Sheffield Hallam University has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from Sheffield Hallam University may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, managed directly between Frontiers and the Library at Sheffield Hallam University, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Furthermore, Sheffield Hallam University and its Library will benefit from a discount on Article Processing Charges (APCs) for articles covered by this agreement. This agreement will further encourage Sheffield Hallam University authors to publish open access, increasing uptake of open access to the results of mostly publicly funded research, to the benefit of the scholarly community and the public at large, while reducing costs. University of Arizona Libraries to trial open access publishing agreement with Frontiers
Update: From 2020 a 10% discount applies. For more details see the newer blog post As part of a trial agreement until the end of 2019, University of Arizona-affiliated corresponding authors will benefit from a 7.5% discount on APCs when publishing in any of Frontiers’ open access journals, irrespective of what fund covers the APC. The 7.5% discount will apply from 12 July 2019 to 31 December 2019 (reference date is the article acceptance date). In addition to the discount, insights into institutional publishing activity are included and regular data reports will be available directly to the University of Arizona Libraries. Information for authors: If a University of Arizona-affiliated corresponding author submits their manuscript with an affiliated institutional email address domain, the discount will be automatically applied. If submission is done with another email domain, but the University of Arizona is indicated as the corresponding author’s affiliation, Frontiers will verify eligibility for the discount with the University of Arizona Libraries. Frontiers and the University of Exeter form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that the University of Exeter has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The University of Exeter Library supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the University of Exeter has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from the University of Exeter may publish in any Frontiers journal at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Eligible papers include: Research funded by UKRI (UK research councils) Research funded by COAF partner charities Research with no open access APC funding from funder of research Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, managed directly between Frontiers and the Open Access team at the University of Exeter Library, relieving authors of the responsibility of payment. Frontiers and Cranfield University form open access publishing agreement

The Cranfield University Library Service supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, Cranfield University has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from Cranfield University may publish in specified Frontiers journals at no cost to them and with a simplified process. Indiana University Bloomington extends open access publishing agreement with Frontiers
As part of a trial agreement until the end of April 2021, Indiana University Bloomington-affiliated corresponding authors benefited from a 7.5% discount on APCs when publishing in any of Frontiers’ open access journals, irrespective of what fund covers the APC. This collaboration has now been further formalized and extended, and starting from 1st May 2021, Indiana University Bloomington-affiliated corresponding authors will enjoy a 10% discount on APCs. In addition to the discount, insights into institutional publishing activity are included and regular data reports will be available directly to the library. All other arrangements (data reports to IU Libraries, verifications) remain the same. Information for authors: If an Indiana University Bloomington-affiliated corresponding author submits their manuscript with an affiliated institutional email address domain (indiana.edu or iu.edu), the discount will be automatically applied. Frontiers and University of Duisburg-Essen form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that University of Duisburg-Essen (Universität Duisburg-Essen) has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The University Library of the University of Duisburg-Essen supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the University of Duisburg-Essen has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, the University of Duisburg-Essen contributes to the publication fees for corresponding authors who are members of the UDE and wish to publish in one of the Frontiers journals. Due to their membership in the UDE, corresponding authors of the UDE receive a 10% discount on the list price. MIT and Frontiers form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Frontiers have formed an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, the MIT Libraries has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, MIT-affiliated corresponding authors will benefit from a 15% membership discount on article processing charges (APCs) when publishing in any of Frontiers’ open access journals, irrespective of what fund covers the APC. The discount will be automatically applied if MIT-affiliated corresponding authors submit manuscripts with an MIT institutional email address. If they submit via another email domain, but they indicate MIT as the affiliation on the paper, Frontiers will verify eligibility for the discount with the MIT Libraries. Frontiers and Simon Fraser University form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that Simon Fraser University (SFU) has established an institutional membership agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The Simon Fraser University Library (SFU Library) supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, Simon Fraser University has entered an institutional agreement with Frontiers. Under the terms of this agreement, eligible authors from Simon Fraser University may publish in any qualifying Frontiers journal with up to $2,500 CAD of the article processing charge (APC) covered by the Open Access Fund, and with a simplified process. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process – the invoicing from Frontiers is managed directly between Frontiers and the Open Access team at the SFU Library, and authors receive an invoice only if the APC exceeds the $2,500 CAD limit, in which case the SFU Library will invoice the corresponding author. Frontiers and the University of Würzburg form open access publishing agreement
We are delighted to announce that the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (University of Würzburg) has established an institutional agreement for open access publishing with Frontiers. The University of Würzburg supports its researchers in making their research more widely available. As part of this support, it covers part of the article processing charges (APCs) via its Open Access Publishing Fund, and it has now entered an institutional membership agreement with Frontiers whereby eligible authors may publish in any Frontiers journal with a simplified process and a discount on APCs. Eligible authors are corresponding authors affiliated to the University of Würzburg (including the University Hospital) who have no other funding to cover APCs. Eligible authors will benefit from a streamlined invoicing process, managed directly between Frontiers and the Open Access Team at the University of Würzburg Library, relieving authors of responsibilities of handling invoices issued by Frontiers (the author will still be billed by the Library for part of the APC plus taxes).
