Firsts in Their Field: The perceptions of Women who have led the way

    The topic of women involved in sporting organizations had been a focus of a great deal of research over the past several decades. Much had been written regarding the barriers, and both positive and negative experiences women have faced in the sporting workplace. What has been missing is a true account of the challenges women face in the sports setting, a firsthand account in their own words. Bringing an authenticity to the literature. Frontier: Sport and Active Living is an ideal setting to give these women a voice as this journal has a track record of publishing information regarding women and sports issues. Therefore, it is an ideal outlet to give these women an opportunity in their own words to express their lived experiences.
