Development, Urdu Translation and Validation of Lifestyle Modification Manual among Patients Post Total Knee Replacement

Objective: Development, Urdu translation and content validation of a manual on lifestyle modification for individuals post Total Knee Replacement (TKR) Methods: A methodological study design was utilized in which thorough literature review as well as group interview with 8 subjects was conducted, which led to identification of domain and generation of items. The group consisted of ten patients who had undergone total knee arthroplasty, and five caregivers. A focal group discussion was conducted to evaluate overlay and repetition among variable items. Two series of content validation were conducted by four content experts and four untrained individuals in languages of English along with Urdu. Revision was done for items with score between 0.70 and 0.79 and retention was done for items score more than 0.79 and items with a CVI score less than 0.70 were omitted from final set of items.Results: Initial review and focus group interview finalized as 53 items in exercise, education and diet sections. Post discussion phase, manual was tailored to 34 items. Content validation reported that the English version of manual received validation of 0.864 and 0.858 on relevance and clarity, respectively. Likewise, Urdu version of the manual attained the S-CVI-Ave of 0.864 and 0.900.34 item lifestyle modifications manual was generated and thoroughly validated for its content to provide detailed guidance and instructions, enabling patients to continue their rehabilitation exercises and lifestyle modifications in the comfort of their own homes. The manual has shown strong content validity, particularly for our targeted population of Pakistan.
