Swimming pool-associated viral outbreaks in China: causes and solutions

    Swimming pool-associated viral outbreaks during the last four decades in China were reviewed, based on published scientific literatures. Particular attention focuses on the causes of the outbreaks from the perspectives of pool operators, health professionals and the public. Possible preventive measures are discussed, including improving pool maintenance and management, early recognition of the outbreaks and public awareness of recreational water illnesses.
