    Iron (Fe) is an essential mineral element in all living organisms. It is important for 13 many functions in plants, particularly respiration and photosynthesis, where its ability to 14 gain and lose electrons makes it essential in electron transfer reactions. However, excess 15 uptake of Fe can cause cellular toxicity in plants, as Fe can produce reactive oxygen 16 species through Fenton chemistry. Fe toxicity can lead to poor plant growth and yield, 17 that prove from the literature can be used to add missing genes and their respective 50 homologous groups to increase GO terms reliability. The paper compile lists of genes 51 involved in Fe homeostasis with direct experimental evidence, genes regulated by well-52 known transcription factors, and members of gene families or ortholog/paralog groups 53 that are not well characterized, which can be used in custom enrichment analyses, aiming 54 to eliminate the gaps and marked deficiencies in the listed genes previously available. 55The work is focused in Arabidopsis thaliana, and provides an excellent example that 56 could be adapted to crops. 57
