In this work, we conducted a large genome-wide association summary statistics (GWAS) to investigate the pleiotropic associations between cognition and multi-site chronic pain in single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) levels, and gene levels and explore the biological pathways. We also employed a latent causal variable model (LCV) to examine the causal relationship between the two traits finally, the role of genes on the phenotype at the transcriptional level is discussed. This was the first article to systematically examine the link between cognition and multi-site chronic pain from a genetic perspective, and it demonstrated the occurrence and development of mental disorders from a biological standpoint.
