Modeling and Simulation of Permanent Magnet Direct Drive Wind Turbine Generator Based on Matlab/Simulink
Provisionally accepted- Jiangsu University of Technology, Changzhou, China
Abstract:This paper establishes mathematical models for systems in various coordinate systems, including three-phase stationary, two-phase stationary, and two-phase rotating ones. It delves into the control strategies for dual PWM converters. The machine-side converter employs a power and current dual closed-loop control approach, while the grid-side converter follows a grid voltage-oriented vector control strategy. The entire three-phase grid-connected wind power generation system was simulated using Matlab software, which also validated the feasibility of the control strategies for both the wind turbine simulation and the dual PWM converter. The system underwent maximum wind energy tracking experiments under step wind speeds, and the experimental waveforms were presented. The experimental results were analyzed, comparing the differences between the waveforms and theory. The experimental findings indicate that the vector control strategy applied to permanent magnet synchronous generators yields good control results, enabling the system to achieve optimal blade tip speed ratio control and rapid speed dynamic response. Moreover, achieving maximum power tracking control for the wind turbine is a research achievement that can offer insights for enhancing the power generation efficiency of the novel permanent magnet synchronous generator. Key words:a permanent magnet synchronous generator, direct drive wind power generation system, modeling and simulation with maximum power tracking.
