This study undertook the microscopic characterization of pore structures within volcanic rock reservoirs located in the Changling fault depression of the southern Songliao Basin, a region with substantial oil and gas resource potential. Multi-scale computed tomography (CT) imaging technology was employed for the characterization of reservoirs. Three representative volcanic rock samples were selected and subjected to a three-tier micrometer CT scanning. This process was integrated with mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) data to construct a multi-scale digital rock model of the pore network. Through both qualitative and quantitative analyses, we were able to elucidate the three-dimensional characteristics of pore-throat structures across different types of storage spaces. Parameters such as reservoir porosity, connectivity, and pore-throat radius distribution were calculated. The results demonstrate that integrating multi-scale CT scanning with mercury intrusion data provides a robust method for characterizing the three-dimensional pore distribution effectively. This research provides an in-depth understanding of the microscopic characteristics of volcanic rock reservoirs and establishes a scientific and technical foundation for advancing the exploration and development of oil and gas resources.
