A review of international Health Metrology today

The aim of this paper is to describe the international advances in Health Metrology research in the last ten years (2013)(2014)(2015)(2016)(2017)(2018)(2019)(2020)(2021)(2022)(2023). This study focuses on research projects of the National Metrology Institutes (NMI) and metrological centers, specifically in the areas of echographs, electrocardiographs, MRI, CT and X-ray, sphygmomanometers, and non-contact thermometers.This review paper studies the research projects in the field of Health Metrology, as well as the future trends they propose. A literature review has been conducted to compile the most relevant information. The main geographical areas where these projects have been carried out are identified, along with the areas where no information has been found. The results show that most of the Health Metrology projects have been developed in American partnership areas (42%), followed by European partnership areas (35%) and Asian partnership areas (23%). In terms of distribution by subject area, most relevant information is provided by studies on echographs (12%), electrocardiographs (6%), MRI, CT and X-ray equipment (43%), followed by sphygmomanometers (18%), and non-contact thermometers (21%). Furthermore, it is highlighted that metrological institutions of European countries that are part of The European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET), actively participate in different funding programmes for innovation and research in health, such as the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR) and the European Partnership on Metrology (EPM), with a total of 37 National Metrology Institutes (NMI), internal and external (partner type).Finally, future lines of work are proposed in relation to Health Metrology projects oriented towards the field of artificial intelligence.▪ Non-Contact Thermometers.
